2013 Triple Planetary Alignment Photo Gallery
A conspicuous series of planetary alignments are visible in evening twilight during the last two weeks of May and first week of June 2013. Brilliant Jupiter and Venus will dominate the grouping while fainter Mercury rounds out the trio. The highlight of the alignment occurs on the evening of May 26 when the three planets appear within 3° of each other (apparent size of a US quarter coin held at arm's length).
Complete details on this celestial event can be found on the Portal to the Universe blog post Triple Planetary Alignment. To preview how the event changes from night-to-night, see the Triple Planetary Alignment Viewing Charts.
The photos gallery below captures the beauty and the changing appearance of the Triple Planetary Alignment.
