M 7

The M 7 is a large, naked eye open star cluster in the constellation Scorpius. At a distance of 800 to 1000 light years, it contains about 30 stars. The integrated brightness of M 7 is apparent magnitude 3.3.

The cluster is about 220 million year in age. Known since antiquity, it was first described by Ptolemy in 130 AD.
